fertility rites Altered Pixals:     All my paintings develop from visual stimuli. Some abstract paintings come about from looking at a scanned painting that was altered with a computer program that greatly magnifies and changes pixel shapes which are normally square. The micro portion of the painting becomes the catalyst for large 3 x 4 foot paintings. With this method of painting many alterations take place. As I work I start to conceptualize a subject. When I feel the composition works the painting is finished.
letter a Paper Piles:    I frame the paintings for my shows. In the process of cutting mats a lot of scraps are thrown on the floor. I became interested in the random arrangement of the paper as the pieces lay over each other This inspired a series of paintings that I call paper piles.
x Repeated Patterns:    For a while I made floor cloths, which are canvas rugs. I designed them using repeated patterns. From some of these designs I altered the patterns for several abstract paintings.
ice series Ice Series:     I became interested in the puddles that freeze over in the driveway. I photographed them and use the images as reference for a series of abstracts I call Ice
crunched paper Crunched Paper:     I use paper to start the fire in the wood stove in my studio. I noticed the shapes of the crunched paper to be interesting and started photographing the wads of paper. This led to a series of abstracts I call Crunched Paper.
